If you need to be able to recharge your mobile phone while you are in the car, you need a car charger or as they are sometimes identified, an in-car charger. This unit will plug into your in car cigarette lighter and charge your phone in a similar way as a mains mobile phone charger. You can either purchase genuine manufacturers merchandises or third party wares, such as the Pama range, at more competitory prices.
Luckily, the charging operations have become much easier than they once were. Nearly every car has a 12 volt battery, and so do marine batteries and power sporting equipment. You must use a battery charger that is correct for your battery to extend its life and save money in the long run. If you fail to use the kind of charger that is suggested by your battery manufacturer, the warranty you have on your lead acid battery, AGM, or gel cell may be null and void. Using an improper charger can destroy your battery.
Trickle charging. This is where the charging device provides the connected battery a low steady charge. Drawback of this method is that these will only give out a constant low charge which is often not enough to keep a battery above the critical voltage of 12.4 volts. In essence they may maintain a good battery but not recharge it if the voltage level becomes too low.
Batteries are the single most important component within a car. Long after you have turned the engine off, batteries are continually supplying many electrical components with the power they need, such as; engine management systems, sat nav, alarm, clock, radio memory, and more. Due to this demand, batteries can become drained in a matter of weeks if not maintained in the correct manner by either driving the vehicle long enough to replace lost charge or by the use of a battery charger.
To every vehicle owner, a drained battery can present a load of frustration, and in some situations, expose oneself to precarious situations (especially to the fairer sex) when it occurs in a desolate place or in the early hours of the day when there is scarcely any traffic around. Rarely do passing motorists stop to assist. It is still possible to call the Automobile Association on your mobile phone. However, there is still a waiting period, could be hours. What if, in such a situation, your phone dies on you, the battery ran flat too!
